Basic Shapes for Pose Drawing by aniruddha Basic Shapes for Pose Drawing by aniruddha
04/12/2012 EDIT: It's weird how this is still getting views and faves... Even I don't use this shapes anymore :D

A very quick compilation of reference sketches I made, for :iconyeahgirl11:

It's the first of the a series i'm going to put together over the week.

I know, I am not a master or an expert when it comes to drawing/painting, but I'd still like to help by sharing :)

Download for high-res version. Feel free to share it, or distribute it, But do let me know if you do.

Pencils on paper, text and BG added in photoshop.

This really helped me out, I've been trying to find something a little more basic and flexible, but all I could find were a bunch on anatomy that didn't help me any on how to start, Thank you so much!

If you don't mind me asking, how would the torso look from above? Would it still have a trapezium shape?

I'll be explaining that in the next one I'm putting together. In that I'll detail the method of moving from simple flat shapes to actual 3D objects, which is important when drawing poses in perspective.

Still, For now you can get an idea of how the torso will look from top or bottom, if you combine side and front views. It retains some of the trapezium, but will look mostly like a box big enough to contain the entire head.

Cool beans. I was always afraid to draw the torso as a box or trapezium because I thought it would make a woman look like a man. :XD:
